In preparation for ABL 10, Saigon Heat has assigned Matt Van Pelt as the team’s new assistant coach.
After considering many potential candidate profiles, Saigon Heat has decided to entrust Matt Van Pelt to take on the role as the team’s new assistant coach. Matt Van Pelt has had years of experience in SEA basketball both as a player and coach. As a player, he previously served for MadGoat Basketball Club under coach Kevin at the TBL (Thailand Basketball League) - averaging 16.31 points, 6.15 assists, and 3.62 rebounds per game.

As a coach, Matt Van Pelt spent time working in youth basketball training centers in Thailand and participated in the Jr. NBA Asia. In 2018, he was appointed as an assistant coach in the U18 and U15 Cambodia Basketball National Team.
In VBA 2018, Matt Van Pelt worked as an assistant to head coach Todd Purves for the Hanoi Buffaloes Basketball Club. His coaching efforts has lead the team to get through to the finals for the very first time.
